Catastrophic Leave Bank
The Catastrophic Leave Bank provides additional paid leave to eligible NHTA members facing a serious illness or injury, emergency medical treatment, or a serious illness or injury affecting an immediate family or household member. Participation is voluntary.
To join, members must have NHTA-approved income protection insurance and contribute one sick day each school year (unless the Bank has more than 500 days and the annual contribution is waived). Members must enroll through Personnel by November 15; newly hired members have 45 working days to enroll.
To use the Bank, members generally must first exhaust other paid leave not covered by income protection insurance and must provide medical verification. Approved members may receive up to 15 days per application. Members using differential leave may receive full pay through the Bank until they become eligible for income protection insurance.
If you may need Catastrophic Leave, contact Personnel and/or NHTA promptly to apply; applications are reviewed by a three-member NHTA committee.
